Job Summary

The Parent Family Support Advisor (PFSA) plays a vital role in providing guidance, support, and resources to families and parents within the community. This position involves working closely with families to promote positive parenting practices, enhance family well-being, and foster a supportive environment for children's development. The PFSA will collaborate with various organisations and community stakeholders to ensure families receive comprehensive assistance tailored to their individual needs. A compassionate approach, excellent communication skills, and experience working with children are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Offer personalised support and advice to parents and families, focusing on strengthening parenting skills and family relationships.
Organise and facilitate family workshops, parenting classes, and community events aimed at promoting child development and family cohesion.
Act as a liaison between families and external agencies, including health services, educational institutions, and social care providers.
Conduct home visits where appropriate to assess family needs and provide tailored guidance.
Maintain accurate records of interactions with families, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with organisational policies.
Advocate on behalf of families to access relevant services and resources within the community.
Develop customised support plans based on individual family circumstances and goals.
Promote awareness of available programmes and initiatives that benefit children’s growth and family stability.

Requirements

Proven experience working with children and families in a supportive or advisory capacity.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trustful relationships.
Organised with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting family well-being.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility to adapt approaches based on diverse family needs and situations.
Valid UK driving licence is desirable but not essential; willingness to travel within the community is required.
