Reception Team Member

Northallerton Motel – Northallerton

Job Overview

Northallerton Motel is seeking a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Reception Team Member to join our team.

As the first point of contact for our guests, you will play a key role in delivering a welcoming and professional experience from check-in through to check-out. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, remains calm under pressure and takes pride in providing excellent customer service.

As a budget motel, no two days are the same. You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a small team while maintaining high standards of customer service, organisation and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome guests in a friendly, professional and courteous manner.
Check guests in and out using the hotel's reservation system.
Answer telephone calls, emails and guest enquiries promptly and professionally.
Process reservations, amendments and cancellations accurately.
Take payments and balance cash/card transactions.
Provide guests with local information and assistance where required.
Resolve guest queries and minor complaints professionally, escalating where appropriate.
Maintain accurate guest records in accordance with company procedures.
Liaise effectively with housekeeping and maintenance to ensure rooms are ready for arriving guests.
Monitor daily arrivals, departures and room availability.
Keep the reception area clean, organised and welcoming at all times.
Report maintenance issues, incidents and health & safety concerns promptly.
Follow company procedures relating to GDPR, confidentiality and guest privacy.
Carry out general administrative duties as required.
Support colleagues and assist with the day-to-day running of the motel when needed.

What We're Looking For

Excellent customer service and communication skills.
A friendly, positive and professional attitude.
Good computer literacy and confidence using computer systems.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience using Guestline Rezlynx or a similar hotel property management system is desirable but not essential.
Previous hotel reception or customer service experience is desirable but not essential.
We are happy to provide full training to applicants who demonstrate a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to developing within the role. We value dedication, reliability and a strong work ethic just as much as previous experience.
