Chef – Saint Piran Café & Bike Hire

About the Role:

Saint Piran Café & Bike Hire is looking for a passionate, hardworking and enthusiastic Chef to join our team.

Nestled in the beautiful Bissoe Valley, we are a busy café serving fresh, homemade food to a varied mix of local customers, families, walkers, cyclists and visitors enjoying the Coast to Coast trail.

We are looking for someone who loves good food, takes pride in what they produce and enjoys working in a friendly, relaxed but busy kitchen.

You will work alongside our existing Chef, with some shifts working together and other shifts working independently. We are therefore looking for someone who is confident taking responsibility for the kitchen when working alone, but also enjoys working as part of a team and sharing ideas when working together.

This is a great opportunity for a chef who wants to have a real input into our food offering and help us continue to develop our kitchen and menu.

The Role

As our Chef, you will play an important part in the day-to-day running of our kitchen. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking fresh food to a consistently high standard, while helping to create a positive and efficient kitchen environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and cooking fresh, homemade dishes to a high standard
Working alongside our existing Chef, with some shifts together and some working independently
Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the kitchen when working alone
Ensuring food is consistently well presented, tasty and served on time
Helping to develop and improve our café menu and daily specials
Working with fresh, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible
Managing food preparation, stock levels and ordering
Helping to control food costs and minimise waste
Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and safety standards
Completing and maintaining food safety and kitchen paperwork
Supporting and working alongside the wider café team
Sharing ideas and contributing to the development of our menu
Maintaining a clean, organised and professional kitchen
Being hands-on and leading by example during busy services

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience working as a Chef or in a busy professional kitchen
Is confident working independently and taking responsibility for a kitchen
Also enjoys working alongside another chef and as part of a wider team
Has a genuine passion for fresh, good-quality food
Takes pride in presentation, consistency and portion control
Can remain calm and organised during busy services
Has good knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety
Is reliable, hardworking and has a positive attitude
Is confident communicating with both kitchen and front-of-house staff
Is creative and enjoys contributing ideas for new dishes and specials
Understands the importance of providing great food and a great experience for our customers
