Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and physically fit Yard Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing materials, operating machinery, and maintaining a safe and organised yard environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience or mechanical knowledge to develop their skills within a dynamic construction and logistics setting. The position involves hands-on work, heavy lifting, and the utilisation of various equipment, including forklifts. All roles are paid positions, including internships.

Duties

Load and unload materials using appropriate handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts
Assist with shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate documentation and organisation
Manage materials handling within the yard, including storage, stacking, and movement of goods
Operate warehouse management systems to track inventory and stock levels
Conduct routine inspections of equipment and yard areas to ensure safety standards are maintained
Support construction activities by providing materials and logistical assistance as required
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks

Skills

Proven experience in warehouse operations or construction environments is preferred
Valid forklift licence or certification is highly desirable
Strong understanding of warehouse management systems and materials handling procedures
Mechanical knowledge beneficial for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently over extended periods
Experience in shipping & receiving processes, including load & unload operations
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Physically fit with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

This role is vital for ensuring smooth logistics operations within our yard, supporting ongoing projects, and maintaining safety standards across all activities.
