Job Description

Job Title: Registered Manager – Children's Home (Dual Registration – EBD & Learning Disabilities)

Location: Leicestershire

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Reports To: Responsible Individual / Operations Manager

Responsible For:

Deputy Manager, Team Leaders, Residential Support Workers, Waking Night Staff, Bank Staff and any other designated employees.

Job Purpose

To lead, manage and develop a dual-registered children's home providing high-quality residential care and support for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Disabilities (LD), ensuring outstanding outcomes and full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and quality standards.

The Registered Manager will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, therapeutic and child-centred environment where every young person is supported to reach their full potential.

The post holder will ensure the home operates in accordance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Quality Standards, Ofsted requirements and safeguarding legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

Provide inspirational leadership and direction to the staff team.

Promote a positive culture focused on children's rights, safeguarding, inclusion and therapeutic care.

Recruit, induct, supervise, develop and retain a skilled workforce.

Conduct regular supervision, appraisals and performance management.

Develop succession planning and leadership within the team.

Lead by example and maintain high professional standards at all times.

Quality of Care

Ensure children receive individualised, person-centred care based upon assessed needs. Promote positive relationships, emotional wellbeing, independence and resilience.

Ensure care planning reflects each child's educational, emotional, behavioural, social and health needs.

Support children with learning disabilities through personalised communication and behaviour support strategies.

Ensure therapeutic approaches are embedded into daily practice.

Promote participation, choice and the voice of the child in all aspects of care.

Safeguarding

Ensure robust safeguarding procedures are implemented and maintained.

Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead where appropriate.

Ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed promptly and appropriately.

Liaise effectively with Local Authorities, Police, Health Services, LADO and safeguarding partners.

Promote safer recruitment practices.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure full compliance with: Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015

Quality Standards, Ofsted Registration Requirements, Children's Act 1989 & 2004

Working Together to Safeguard Children

Keeping Children Safe in Education (where applicable), Equality Act 2010, Health & Safety legislation, GDPR and Confidentiality requirements

Maintain all statutory records and documentation.

Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections.

Complete Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 requirements.

Ensure continuous quality improvement plans are implemented.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications;

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve within regulatory timescales).

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

Full UK Driving Licence.

Essential Experience

Minimum of two years' management experience within a children's residential setting within the last five years.

Experience supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.

Experience supporting children with Learning Disabilities.

Experience of Ofsted inspections.

Experience managing safeguarding concerns.

Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.

Experience in staff recruitment, supervision and performance management.

Budget management experience.

Experience working with Local Authorities and commissioning teams.

Knowledge
