About the role

TIFA Life supports young people aged 16 and over across South Wales. We're looking for a female key worker to give consistent one-to-one support to a young person who has been through significant trauma.

This is a relationship-first role. Your job is to be a steady, reliable presence in their life, earn their trust over time, and help them feel safe. Some days will be hard. The right person sees that as the work, not a reason to walk away.

This is an immediate start. You'll need an existing enhanced DBS registered on the DBS Update Service so we can verify it straight away.

What you'll do

- Provide one-to-one support built around their needs, routines and interests.

- Build a consistent, trusting relationship where they feel heard and safe.

- Plan and take part in activities they enjoy, at home and out in the community.

- Support them with everyday routines, appointments, education and social opportunities.

- Keep clear, professional records and work closely with our safeguarding team.

About you

- You stay calm, patient and consistent, especially on the difficult days.

- You don't take hard moments personally, and you understand trust is built slowly.

- You're confident supporting a young person through distress and moments of crisis.

- You hold clear, kind boundaries and follow them through.

- You're reliable. They need to know you'll turn up.

Essential

- A current enhanced DBS registered on the DBS Update Service, so we can verify it straight away.

- This role is open to female applicants only. Being female is a genuine occupational requirement for this post under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, given the personal nature of the support and the needs and wishes of the young person.

- Experience supporting young people or adults with complex needs, trauma or challenging behaviour.

- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

- Right to work in the UK.

- Available to start immediately.

Desirable

- Experience in supported accommodation, residential care, fostering, youth work or a similar setting.

- Training in de-escalation or positive behaviour support (Team Teach, MAPA, PBM or equivalent).

- Social Care Wales registration, or willingness to register.

- £21.00 per hour, inclusive of holiday pay.

- Full training and induction, with ongoing support from an experienced safeguarding team.

- Regular supervision. You won't be doing this on your own.
