A day in the life of…

As a Commis Chef in our busy hotel, you will work as part of a kitchen team to prepare and cook a range of dishes to menu specifications. You will assist senior chefs with food preparation and ensure that all food is prepared and served to a high standard of quality and presentation. You will also maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas, follow all food safety and health regulations, and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

What do we need from you?

Proven experience as a commis Chefor similar role in a hotel or restaurant setting with a strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques, and a willingness to continually develop culinary skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions from senior chefs.
A commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including adherence to food safety regulations and proper use of kitchen equipment and cleaning products.
Good communication skills, willingness to work as part of a team, and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

The Mercure Bedford Centre is ideally situated in the heart of the busy market town of Bedford and is ideal for business and leisure guests. Thanks to our prime location, we have great transport links which make getting around by rail or car a breeze. On the bank of the River Great Ouse, our restaurant and bar offers beautiful panoramic views over the river and surrounding area.
