Cimpor UK Limited is establishing a brand-new manufacturing facility in Avonmouth, Bristol, and we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the very beginning, supporting the installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of our new manufacturing plant. As the site becomes fully operational, you will play a key role in ensuring our equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and continuous improvement activities across the site.

Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on manufacturing plant and equipment.
Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
Maintaining conveyors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, bearings, valves, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rotating equipment and associated plant.
Supporting the installation and commissioning of new machinery and production equipment.
Carrying out equipment inspections and preventative maintenance in line with maintenance schedules.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Supporting planned shutdowns and maintenance projects.
Working safely in accordance with company procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the company's maintenance management system (CMMS).
Working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.

About You

We're looking for a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Technician with excellent fault-finding skills and experience within an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Essential Qualifications

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical) or an equivalent recognised mechanical engineering qualification.
Completed Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience.
Good understanding of mechanical maintenance principles and safe working practices.

Essential Experience

Mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repair.
Experience maintaining conveyors, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, bearings, valves and rotating equipment.
Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Strong understanding of safe isolation (Lock Out/Tag Out) and mechanical safety procedures.

Desirable

Welding and fabrication experience.
Experience commissioning new machinery and equipment.
Shutdown maintenance experience.
Heavy industrial manufacturing experience (cement, aggregates, quarrying, steel, recycling, chemical processing or similar).
Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
