Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Commis, you will play a vital role in supporting the culinary operations of our restaurant. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills in food preparation and kitchen management within a fast-paced hospitality environment. You will work closely with experienced chefs, gaining valuable insights into food production and safety practices.

Duties

Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
Support the kitchen team in various cooking tasks, including chopping, mixing, and cooking under supervision.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to senior staff.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.
Supervise junior kitchen staff as required, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork.
Contribute to menu development by providing feedback on dishes and suggesting improvements based on customer preferences.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a hospitality or kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; a passion for cooking is key.
Basic knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is advantageous.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen setting.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and supervisors.
A proactive attitude towards learning new techniques in food preparation and production.
Full training and apprenticeship available if required.
