- Driving license: A full, clean UK driving license and your own transportation are required due to the office's rural location, which is not easily accessible by public transport.
- Residency: UK resident, eligible to work in the UK. Local to Bristol/South Gloucestershire.

About the role
As Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of de Smit Medical. Working closely with the Finance Manager and Finance Administrator, you will gain exposure to a wide range of finance functions including payroll, VAT, sales and purchase ledger, reporting, and credit control.
About the interview process

Successful candidates will be invited to our Cromhall office for a friendly face-to-face meeting, a tour, and a short quiz related to the role. It’s a great chance to get to know us and ask any questions.
Key Responsibilities
- VAT Management: Assist with VAT administration, including preparation of quarterly VAT returns, Postponed VAT (PVA) and C79 liabilities.
- Salary Administration: Collate payroll information and liaise with the company's payroll provider
- Sales Ledger: To include processing invoices, purchase orders and customer receipts.
- Purchase Ledger: Process supplier payments, expense claims and foreign currency transactions.
- Credit Control: Support credit control activities and liaise with customers regarding outstanding invoices.
- Bank reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
- Price List Management: Update sales prices compared to current market prices.
- Fleet Management: Assist with fleet administration including arranging insurance and lease management.
- Reporting: Support reporting and analysis activities, preparing management information, financial reports and sustainability data.
- Expenses: Administer the company's expense systems and maintain accurate financial records.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in a finance role.
- AAT qualification (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Sage 50 or similar package.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
- Payroll administration.
- VAT preparation.
- C79 and PVA experience.
