Full job description

About the Role

Emperia College is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced GCSE English Tutor to teach students preparing for their GCSE English Language and/or English Literature examinations. We have opportunities for both online and in-person tuition.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons, build students' confidence, improve their reading and writing skills, and help them achieve their full potential in GCSE examinations.

Key Responsibilities

Teach GCSE English Language and/or English Literature through one-to-one and small group sessions, both online and in person.
Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs.
Develop students' reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, creative writing and analytical writing skills.
Prepare students for GCSE examinations using revision techniques, past papers and exam-style questions.
Mark students' work and provide constructive feedback to support their progress.
Monitor student performance and maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
Communicate professionally with parents and the college where required.

Requirements

Degree in English or a related subject (or equivalent experience).
Experience teaching or tutoring GCSE English.
Strong knowledge of the GCSE English Language and/or English Literature curriculum.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to teach effectively both online and in a classroom environment.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Right to work in the UK.
