Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Cook/Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a culinary background and a commitment to food safety and quality. As a Cook/Chef, you will play a crucial role in meal preparation and food preparation, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced café environment and is eager to contribute to our success.

Working Hours
We are currently looking for someone to work four days a week, including one evening shift on a Friday or Saturday evening. There will also be opportunity to work additional hours to cover shifts, special events, annual leave and peak demands throughout the year.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.
Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as necessary.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.
Maintain equipment and kitchen tools, ensuring they are clean, functional, and safe to use.

Experience

Proven experience as a Cook/Chef or in a similar culinary role within a busy café setting.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
Proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines, with an emphasis on meal preparation.
Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff effectively.
A culinary qualification or relevant training is preferred but not essential for the right candidate with practical experience.

Qualifications

Culinary experience
Level 3 food safety certification
Strong cooking skills
Effective communication skills
Previous kitchen experience
Familiarity with meal preparation techniques
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Restaurant experience is a plus
Knowledge of serving etiquette and procedures

Pay: From £13.71 per hour
