Duty Manager 19.6 Hours per week , Fixed term contract for 12 months, employment commencing on 8th September 2026
Training for this position will commence on 24th August 2026
19.6 Hours per week paid at £16.00 per hour
Between 1 & 2 Sleep in Duties per 7 days
Saxon Court is located alongside Hoves beautiful seafront with nearby local services and on site parking .
We are looking to recruit a wonderful new fixed term contract duty manager to oversee our unique independent living court , reporting directly to the Court Manager Training and courses provided for the position , our staff our our greatest asset so if you whish to be part of a great team where no two days are the same, your shifts will be daytime shifts 8am until 3pm and afternoon evening shifts from 3pm until 8pm followed by SLEEPING IN until the next morning, up to twice a week in a seven day working week . we are not a care home so previous management or supervisory experience will be considerd, you will be Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day work while on duty, in particular, supervision of the team of Housekeeping Assistants who provide domestic help to Owners
To provide assistance to Owners in an emergency situation.
An understanding of the needs of older people to ensure continued independence and an optimum quality of life for all Owners. The Duty Manager is very much the "head of staff" and is expected to use imagination, skill and sensitivity to identify problems before they occur and take steps to avoid them (taking a pro-active rather than re-active role in the management and development of the Court).
To deliver excellent customer service to all Owners and ‘customers’ in line with company standards providing a positive ‘can do’ attitude at all times.
Supervision and deployment of Housekeeping Assistants in accordance with the authorised budget.
Reviewing performance of staff through 1:2:1 supervision and annual appraisal
Liaison with contracted services such as gardeners, window cleaners and general maintenance contractors.
Promote and encourage the Court’s catering facilities ensuring that high standards of service, presentation and value for money are always maintained.
Act as host/hostess in the dining room for all meals served and to eat with the Owners
Facilitating social events and activities that the Owners wish to organise (using imagination and initiative).
Keeping accounts of payments received and expenditure incurred (ensuring that all money payable for services provided is received and properly accounted for).
Efficient administration in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
Assisting and facilitating the re-sale of vacant properties.
Resolution of the problems of individual Owners.
Liaison with health care professionals such as community nurses, community psychiatric nurses, chiropodists, Social Services and GP’s.
Day-to-day responsibility for a particular area of work, e.g. catering, rotas, time sheets, invoicing and cash administration, health & safety, staff training etc. under the supervision of the Manager.
Ensuring appropriate relationships between staff and Owners are maintained.
Providing excellent customer service to all Owners and ‘customers’ in line with company standards and provide a positive ‘can do’ attitude at all times.
To work as part of a team with all staff to meet company objectives.
To take responsibility for own personal development and training (mandatory & professional) in line with the needs of the business and annual performance objectives
To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected.
Saxon Court is staffed 24 Hours a day candidates please note YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SLEEP IN UP TO TWICE A WEEK in a seven day shift pattern as we operate a personal call system for out of hours emergencies only, private managers suit provided for sleep in duties .
Closing date for applicants Friday 7th August with interviews the following week .
The employment start date will be 8th September 2026 for the period of 12 months
The successful candidate will need to be available for training for the position week starting 24th August
