Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests and performing a variety of mechanical repairs and maintenance on vehicles. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background who are committed to delivering high-quality service in a professional environment.

Duties

Carry out MOT testing in accordance with legal requirements and company standards
Diagnose vehicle faults and perform necessary repairs or maintenance
Conduct routine servicing, including oil changes, brake inspections, and tyre replacements
Use hand tools and power tools to dismantle, repair, and reassemble vehicle components
Perform heavy lifting of vehicle parts or equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain accurate records of all work carried out and parts used
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards
Assist with vehicle inspections and prepare vehicles for testing or sale as required

Requirements

Proven experience as a mechanic or MOT tester with relevant qualifications
Strong mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools effectively
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines
Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Valid MOT tester certification is preferred but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate
A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate vehicle movement around the premises
