JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Integrated Urgent Care Team

JOB TITLE: Driver receptionist

BASE: St Ives House Blackburn & Burnley General Hospital

REPORTS TO: Shift Manager

RESPONSIBLE TO: Operations Manager

DBS DISCLOSURE Standard

REQUIRED: YES

Job Summary

To work as part of a team to providing services for patients requiring medical assistance outside offfice working hours of General Practice and will drive the duty doctor using the Company vehicles to patients homes and other sites as necessary and to act as a Chaperone if required.

The post holder will carry out the reception duties at any of ELMS Treatment Centres for patients that require medical assistance outside the normal working hours of General Practice. This includes interacti ng with patients and clinicians in person in a helpful and professional manner.

· MAIN DUTIES:

· To drive, using the Company vehicles, the duty doctor to patients homes or any other site where the patient is to be seen planning all routes in advance of the journey.

· COMMUNICATION:

· Communicate messages to / from the duty doctor accurately and efficiently.

Demonstrate excellent effective interpersonal skills, when dealing

with staff/patients/relatives/members of the public

· TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:

· Assist with the induction process for newly recruited OOH Drivers.

· ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure all portable equipment is collected and in working order at the start of each shift as per operating instructions.

· Ensure adequate supplies of paperwork / forms for the duration of the shift.

· Assist the duty doctor with replenishment of stock levels in accordance with Medicines Management instructions.

· Ensure vehicle is equipped and loaded with medication stocks as per Medicines Management instructions.

· Attend regular training events organized by the Company.

· Participate in the training and development of new members of staff.

· Participate in the Company performance development process.

· Assist the Company in achieving Department of Health standards for patient contacts with the Service.

· Before leaving the Primary Care Centre at the end of the shift ensure that any drugs, equipment, keys and paperwork has been dealt with / returned / stored correctly.

· Maintain reception area and keep all furniture and equipment clean and tidy.

· Maintain cleanliness of vehicle throughout the duration of the shift.

· Ensure computer and other equipment is functional and operational reporting any problems appropriately.

· Report all Accidents / Incidents in line with agreed guidelines.

· Work and adhere to Company policies and procedures.

· Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.

· Contribute to the safety of any individual and work colleagues on the premises by being observant to risks and security at all times.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT:

In accordance with the National Quality Requirements that all employees will need to be appraised and this Job Description will be used as a basis for individual performance review between the post holder and their line manager.
You will be expected to complete all ELMS Mandatory Training requirements and completed within the specified time frames, failure to do so could lead to suspension of duties / further disciplinary action.

Report all Accidents / Incidents in line with agreed guidelines and assist in any investigations / resolutions where appropriate.

Fully comply with ELMS Complaints Policy ensuring all informal and formal complaints and incidents are documented and the process is explained to patients
Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity at all times.
To take responsibility for the site and to ensure the evacuation procedure is followed and complete, to assist patients and liaise with the Emergency Services and / or key holders.

Other Duties

Any other duties, as agreed with the line manager to meet the needs of the organisation. This may involve travel to other sites within the organisation

UNIFORM

Uniforms are issued to all employees and must be worn at all times whilst on Company

Business. They must be kept clean and serviceable.
