Cook – Georgian Bistro & Creative Pastry Kitchen

Peckham Rye, London

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on and passionate Cook to work in our small Georgian bistro kitchen in Peckham Rye.

Our menu is rooted in Georgian bistro cooking, with a strong focus on Georgian pastry and filled breads, including khachapuri, kubdari, lobiani and similar dishes, alongside Georgian soups, stews, sides, sauces and small plates.

This is a small, independent kitchen with a steady and manageable service. It is not a high-pressure, high-volume restaurant kitchen. There is usually one cook working in the kitchen, so the right person must be comfortable working independently, keeping things organised, and maintaining consistent quality.

Creative opportunity

While our current menu is based on Georgian food, we are also open to passionate individuals who bring their own ideas, taste and culinary background.

We would be very happy to meet someone with experience or serious interest in Creative Fusion, Japanese, Korean, Ethiopian, Brazilian, Mediterranean, European or any other food culture — or someone who enjoys creating thoughtful combinations between different traditions.

For the right person, this role can become more than simply cooking the existing menu. We are open to discussing new specials, seasonal dishes, creative experiments and even bold new directions for parts of the bistro menu, while keeping quality, simplicity and good taste at the centre.

Working days and hours

Wednesday to Sunday
Wednesday to Friday: from 5:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday: from 12:00 pm
Monday and Tuesday closed

Exact hours can be discussed depending on experience and availability.

Pay

£14.00–£16.00 per hour, depending on experience
Plus a share of tips and discretionary service charge

Tips and discretionary service charge are shared fairly and transparently between eligible kitchen and front-of-house staff working the relevant shift.

Main responsibilities

Prepare and cook Georgian bistro dishes according to the menu
Work with dough, fillings and pastry-style dishes
Prepare khachapuri, kubdari, lobiani and other Georgian filled breads
Keep the kitchen clean, safe and well organised
Follow food hygiene and safety standards
Help with stock rotation and basic kitchen ordering needs

The ideal candidate

Has previous kitchen or cooking experience
Is comfortable working alone in a small kitchen
May have experience in another cuisine but Georgian
Reliable, tidy and organised
