Full job description

A Dynamic opportunity has arisen to join our newly opened Ofsted Registered Children’s Home. Utopia Supported Housing has been providing supported housing for young people since 2016 and has now opened its first Registered Children’s Home. We work with Ofsted and local authorities to provide a high-quality provision where children can safely grow and be given the chance to create a positive future.

We are looking for Waking night staff who know how to make a house a home and are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives.

Do you have experience of working with children who may have had traumatic backgrounds, emotional & behavioural difficulties, childhood trauma and complex behavioural needs or do you have caring, empathetic & supportive qualities that you feel may make you an excellent support worker, if so, we would love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities:

Ability to successfully care for Looked After Children in a residential childcare environment
General housekeeping and preparing food
Good level of IT skills to complete the necessary paperwork
Excellent communication skills
The ability to prioritise and multitask
Display professionalism and liaise with local professionals and local authorities regularly
Display empathy and understanding when liaising with families
Proactivity and able to use initiative
Ability to engage with children with emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties as a result of adverse childhood experiences, mental health issues, domestic abuse, substance misuse, sexual abuse and learning difficulties

Training and Qualifications:

Have or be willing to work towards a Level 4 Diploma in Residential Child Care.
Mandatory training modules will be provided
Knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and OFSTED Regulation is desirable but not essential
Minimum required working age of 21 years
Experience of working in a similar setting is desirable however, not essential

Salary:

£14.50 per hour

Work Schedule:

The waking night shift starts at either 20:00, 21:00 or 22:00 PM and finishes at 08:00 AM. Our rotas are from Monday-Sunday and include bank holidays.

Additional:

Utopia Supported Housing provides a robust induction programme, full training and shadow shifts will be provided alongside support from your Team Leaders and managers.

Our recruitment process aims to create and maintain a safe workforce and contains robust vetting procedures. The successful applicants will be appointed subject to references and enhanced DBS check.
