Playworker

Location: Birmingham B18 6PU and B7 4AA

Job Type: Part-Time / Casual / Term-Time & Holiday Club Opportunities

Salary: Competitive – dependent on experience and qualifications

At Kidz Come First we are passionate about creating a safe, fun, stimulating and inclusive environment where children can thrive through play, creativity and positive relationships. We are looking for enthusiastic and caring Playworkers to join our growing childcare team.

Our after-school clubs, holiday playschemes and event childcare services support children aged 3–12 years through engaging activities, confidence-building experiences and child centred care.

About the Role

As a Playworker, you will support the daily delivery of exciting and enriching activities while ensuring children remain safe, happy and engaged. You will help create a welcoming environment where every child feels valued, included and encouraged to develop socially, emotionally and creatively.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and engage children in structured and free play activities

Support arts & crafts, sports, games, cooking, outdoor play and themed activities

Promote positive behaviour and encourage children’s confidence and independence

Ensure safeguarding, health & safety and welfare procedures are followed at all times

Build positive relationships with children, parents/carers and staff

Prepare snacks and maintain a clean, safe and stimulating environment

Support children with additional needs where required

Assist on trips, workshops and special events

Essential Requirements

Experience working with children in a school, childcare or play setting

Good communication and teamwork skills

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Desirable Qualifications

Level 2 or 3 Childcare / Playwork qualification

Paediatric First Aid

Safeguarding Training

Experience supporting children with SEND
