Full job description

Mechanical Fitter

Stone Marine Services is looking to add two experienced time-served mechanical fitters with a sound knowledge of interpreting mechanical drawings. The position will be based within our facility in Inverkeithing, Scotland, reporting to the Workshop Manager. This is not a sponsored role, to be considered for this role you must be currently based in the UK.

Responsibilities:

Overhauling marine Propulsion /deck machinery units in a workshop environment, insuring milestones set by the workshop manager are achieved and progress updates given
Operating various machinery in a safe way, for example lathes, milling machines etc.
Complete inspections and quality control of items using calibration equipment
Complete workshop inspection / Overhaul reports
Ensure all stock items used have been recorded and the store person informed, liaising with the store person when consumable levels run low
Adhere to all H&S policies and procedures at all times.
Ensure the workshop is a clean and safe environment to work in.
In ‘downtimes’ use the time productively to implement best practices/training
Other ad hoc duties as required
Training of Apprentices at SMS is required.

Requirements:

You should be experienced in reading and understanding mechanical drawings (Must)
Apprentice qualification desirable.
Good communication skills
Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
High motivation to work
Driving license

***Please note regular overtime is available***
