What you’ll do…

Forestry England are the biggest provider of outdoor recreation in the UK. We manage landscapes for wildlife to thrive, people to enjoy and as a source of sustainable wood.

Paid for parking applies at a number of our forests. The money raised from our car parks goes towards maintaining our visitor facilities including visitor centres, play areas, bike trails and other facilities.

Parking is an important service we provide to our visitors. Working within the National Parking Team and collaborating with colleagues across the organisation, the postholder will drive the efficiency and effectiveness of our Parking Services function through structured workload planning, organisation, and the provision of expert guidance and support. This role plays a critical part in shaping and delivering organisation-wide parking objectives, as well as supporting key projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Deputy National Parking Manager will have direct line management responsibility for the Parking Services team, ensuring high performance, consistency, and excellent service delivery across the team.

This is a permanent full-time role for 37 hours per week which will be worked across 5 days from Monday to Sunday each week. The nature of the work includes requirement for regular rota'd weekend, public and privilege holiday and evening working. To accommodate this, a rostered 7-day contract will be issued as standard. There is also an expectation that this role may be required to be on-call on a rota’d basis to act as a weekend and evening escalation contact.

Where you’ll work…

This role is offered on the basis of blended working, a combination of office based and the flexibility of some virtual working. The location of this post is at The Business Centre, Croxton Road, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1JD. The post responsibilities cover the whole of England and the post holder may need to travel (including some overnight stays) to sites across England as required by the role.

a written exercise to demonstrate your customer service skills
a problem-solving task around managing a staff rota
prepare a 10‑minute presentation to deliver to the interview panel. Your presentation must address the following two areas:

Part 1 – What attracted you to this role and how does your experience make you suitable for this role?

Part 2 – Present your approach and responses to both:

the written customer‑service exercise, highlighting how you demonstrate strong customer‑service and literacy skills
the problem‑solving task on managing a staff rota, outlining your reasoning and decision‑making.
