Refugee & Resettlement Officer

Join our dedicated Refugee Resettlement Team, where you'll play a key role in supporting refugees with complex needs as they build new lives in North Tyneside. As a Refugee Resettlement Support Officer, you will provide person-centred support, coordinate access to essential services, and help individuals develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to thrive. Your work will make a meaningful difference by enabling successful integration, improving life opportunities, and contributing to stronger, more inclusive communities across the borough.

Our team supports refugees with complex needs to successfully resettle and build independent lives in North Tyneside. By providing tailored support and coordinating access to services, education, employment, and community opportunities, we help individuals integrate, contribute to the local community, and achieve positive long-term outcomes for themselves and the borough.

The post holder will provide tailored, person-centred support to refugees with complex needs as they resettle in North Tyneside, helping them overcome barriers such as mental health challenges, language difficulties, and limited independent living skills. They will coordinate support services and empower individuals to build the confidence, skills, and opportunities needed to live independently, access education or employment, and successfully integrate into their local community.

The successful candidate

The role also involves preparing homes for arrivals, carrying out needs and risk assessments, developing personalised support and integration plans, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver coordinated, high-quality support. We're looking for someone with excellent communication and organisational skills, a proactive and compassionate approach, and the ability to build effective relationships while managing a varied caseload and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

We're looking for someone with experience of supporting customers with a range of needs, delivering excellent customer service, and building positive relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders. You should have strong communication, organisational, and IT skills, an understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding, and the ability to assess needs and promote independent living; knowledge of housing, welfare benefits, refugee support services, and relevant legislation is desirable and can be developed through training and support in the role.
