Job title: Offenders and Criminal Justice Principal

Grade: 11 (£60,339 - £65,483)

Business area: Safer and Stronger Communities Directorate

Reporting line: Assistant Director for Safer and Stronger Communities

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available in the Safer Stronger Communities Directorate to lead our ambitious and nationally leading reducing offending and criminal justice portfolio for the city region. This includes our unique devolution arrangements with the Ministry of Justice.

Reporting to an Assistant Director, the role will act as a subject matter expert and strategic lead for all areas for reducing reoffending and criminal justice including youth justice and our unique Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Justice.

The post holder will work hand in hand with senior level partners including with policing, probation, prisons, the crown prosecution service, local authorities and the voluntary, community and faith sector to enable us to reduce reoffending and to implement our unique whole system approach to diverting people away from the criminal justice system.

The role holder will directly advise the Deputy Mayor and senior officers in the Directorate and be expected to lead significant relevant projects, programmes and commissioned services as well as lead Government engagement activity in this area

About you

You should have significant experience in and subject matter knowledge of reducing reoffending and criminal justice..

You should have significant skills and experience in commissioning, project/programme management, bid writing, policy development and budget management.

The post holder will need a high degree of political acumen and be able to navigate a complex stakeholder environment.

This role is part of GMCA’s hybrid working scheme.
