Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality food services. This role involves assisting with meal preparation, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring smooth operation of daily kitchen activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a keen eye for safety, and experience in catering or restaurant environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager
Support catering events by preparing ingredients and assembling dishes
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing utensils, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to at all times
Help with serving meals to customers or guests as required
Restock supplies and ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations
Follow health and safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents or contamination
Assist with inventory management and stock rotation

Qualifications

Previous experience in catering, restaurant, or kitchen environments is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Basic cooking skills and familiarity with meal preparation techniques
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within the culinary field
Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if required
