Location: St Albans City Football Club, Clarence Park, St Albans

Job Type: Casual / Part-time

Pay: £12.75–£14.00 per hour (depending on experience) + performance bonus opportunities + career progression

Help us build one of the friendliest cafés in St Albans.

Italian Indulgence has recently opened its café inside St Albans City Football Club.

We're not simply serving coffee and food—we're creating a welcoming place where football supporters, families, local residents and visitors genuinely enjoy spending time.

We're looking for someone who understands that great hospitality isn't just about serving customers—it's about making people feel welcome, creating genuine connections and helping build a café that becomes part of the local community.

Your Role

As part of our team, you'll help operate the café and deliver an outstanding customer experience every day.

Your duties will include:

Preparing and serving high-quality Italian coffee.
Serving pastries, croissants, focaccia, authentic Italian cannoli, artisan gelato and other Italian specialities.
Delivering friendly, professional customer service.
Opening and closing the kiosk when required.
Keeping the café clean, organised and fully stocked throughout the day.
Taking ownership of the café and confidently managing it independently when required.
Creating genuine conversations with customers and helping make the café a place people enjoy returning to.
Recognising opportunities to introduce our business to local schools, clubs, community organisations and other potential partners whenever appropriate.

When customers aren't being served, there's always something productive to do—cleaning, organising, preparing, restocking or improving the customer experience.

We believe in being fully present at work. Personal phone use should be kept to breaks unless genuinely necessary.

We're looking for someone who:

Has previous experience in hospitality, cafés or customer-facing roles.
Can confidently work independently.
Naturally enjoys talking to people and building relationships.
Is proactive and notices what needs doing without waiting to be asked.
Has excellent attention to cleanliness and presentation.
Works calmly under pressure during busy periods.
Is reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
Wants to become part of a growing independent business.

Availability

Applicants must be available for:

Evening shifts.
Every weekend.
Tuesday evening football matches during the season.
Additional weekday shifts when required.
Special events and themed evenings organised by the company.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent).
Previous similar experience.
Experience working independently within a café or hospitality environment.
