Registered Manager | Children's Residential Care | Ofsted | EBD | Trauma-Informed Care

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a newly established Children's Residential Home in Crook, County Durham. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated childcare professional to take full ownership of a high-quality residential provision supporting a young person with complex emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs (EBD/SEMH).

As the Registered Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment while ensuring the home achieves and maintains the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance.

This position would suit an experienced Children's Home Manager, Deputy Manager ready for progression, Residential Care Manager, or Ofsted Registered Manager with a strong background in trauma-informed practice and therapeutic childcare.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, development, and day-to-day operation of the children's residential service. You will lead a dedicated team to deliver outstanding outcomes for a young person requiring specialist support.

You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding requirements, and children's home standards while promoting positive outcomes, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

Register with Ofsted and manage the children's residential home in accordance with regulatory requirements
Lead, motivate, supervise, and develop a high-performing residential childcare team
Deliver and embed trauma-informed and therapeutic care practices
Promote positive behaviour management using PACE, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), and restorative approaches
Oversee safeguarding, care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
Ensure compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding legislation
Maintain excellent standards of care, governance, and record keeping
Develop effective partnerships with local authorities, social workers, education providers, CAMHS, health professionals, and families
Manage staffing, recruitment, training, and workforce development
Support the young person to achieve positive outcomes across education, health, independence, and wellbeing
Lead the home through Ofsted inspections and quality assurance processes
Respond effectively to incidents, complex behaviours, and crisis situations

Essential Requirements

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification)
Minimum 2 years' experience in a senior management position within a Children's Residential Home
Proven experience supporting children and young people with EBD, SEMH, trauma, attachment difficulties, and complex behavioural needs
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and therapeutic childcare
Experience managing Ofsted-regulated services and regulatory compliance
Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills
Ability to develop and lead high-performing residential teams
Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Experience

Previous experience as a Registered Manager within a children's home
Knowledge of PACE, PBS, attachment theory, and therapeutic parenting models
Experience supporting children with neurodiversity, learning disabilities, or complex needs
Track record of achieving positive Ofsted outcomes
