Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for someone to come in and help us run our busy (small) pub kitchen. We anticipate that this role will turn into a 'Sous Chef' position will eventually require running the kitchen a few days per week.

Our menu is a traditional pub menu with daily specials. We operate a casual dining environment with seating for just over 40 people.

Our Head Chef will prepare food each Monday which you will be required to serve on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Additional hours will include other evenings and weekends.

Duties

Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations
Lead food production, preparing high-quality dishes
Manage team members, providing guidance, training, and support to optimise performance
Oversee food preparation processes, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
Coordinate with Head Chef to ensure timely procurement of ingredients and kitchen supplies
Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen area to meet hygiene standards
Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock control to minimise waste
Ensure compliance with food safety legislation and best practices at all times

Requirements

Team Player
You love to cook!
Commercial kitchen experience (ideally)
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and suppliers
Ability to uphold high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety at all times
Flexibility to work various shifts as required by operational needs

Hours

Hours TBC to develop with the right person to suit all round
20-30 hours initially
