Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our early childhood education centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. This role involves coordinating staff, developing programmes, and maintaining high standards of childcare and education. Applicants should have relevant nursery experience and a solid understanding of early childhood development principles. A valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate organisational tasks and community engagement.

Duties

Manage the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring smooth operational procedures
Lead, motivate, and supervise nursery staff to deliver high-quality childcare and early education programmes
Develop, implement, and evaluate educational activities that promote children's development in line with early childhood education standards
Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted requirements
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and external agencies to support children's wellbeing and development
Organise staff rotas, recruitment, training sessions, and performance appraisals
Oversee administrative tasks including record keeping, budgeting, and resource management
Ensure effective communication within the team and with parents to promote transparency and trust
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance nursery standards and service delivery

Qualifications

Proven management experience within a nursery or childcare setting
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
Extensive knowledge of early childhood education practices and child development milestones
Experience working directly with children in a childcare environment
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Ability to organise workload efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail
Valid driving licence is advantageous for transportation or outreach activities
Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are essential; additional early childhood education qualifications are desirable
