Full job description

Part-time Retail & Workshop Assistant – Start Point Spearfishing

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and personable individual to join our friendly and rapidly growing team at Start Point Spearfishing.

We are currently looking for a team members to work Tuesday to Friday, plus the occasional weekend to cover holiday / absence.

This is a varied, hands-on role within a unique industry, combining retail, customer service, workshop tasks and order fulfilment. No prior spearfishing, foraging or free diving experience is required - full paid training will be provided - but a willingness to learn, communicate well and get stuck in is essential.

Shift hours are:

Summer hours Tuesday – Friday: 08:00 – 16:00 or 10:00 - 18:00

Winter hours Tuesday – Friday: 08:30 – 16:30 or 09:30 - 17:30

Key duties & responsibilities:

Assisting customers in store, over the phone and via email/WhatsApp
Packaging and dispatching online orders
Keeping the shop clean, organised and well stocked
Stock checking and inventory organisation
Speargun rigging and servicing
Making speargun bands
Gluing foot pockets to carbon blades (preferable)
Pissette fitting (preferable)
General workshop and store duties as required

Basic computer skills
Willingness to learn practical new skills
Flexibility to work additional days when required
Interest in the outdoors, the ocean or sustainable fishing is a bonus

Speargun rigging and servicing
Equipment repair and workshop skills
Order fulfilment and stock management
Weather and sea condition knowledge
Retail and customer service experience within a specialist industry
The fundamentals of spearfishing and freediving
