Full job description

We are looking for compassionate, dedicated, and reliable Health Care Assistants to join our growing team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centred care and support to individuals,

We have approximately 140 employees in diverse roles including GPs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Pharmacy Technicians, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomists Receptionist, Administrators and many more! Primary Responsibilities:

The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

· Undertake NHS Health Checks

· Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately

· Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

· Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

· Carry out BMI checks as directed

· Act as a chaperone as required

· Undertake venepuncture

· Administer vaccinations such as Shingles, Pneumonia and flu vaccinations

· Carry out ECGs as requested

· Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation

· Provide support during minor operations as required

· Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session

· Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance

· Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy

· Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

· To be prepared to work across all locations which may be communicated at short notice due to unexpected absences within the team

· To attend regular training updates and nurses meetings

Secondary Responsibilities:

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Healthcare Assistant may be requested to:

· Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead

· Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

· Support and participate in shared learning within the practice

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

Qualifications (Essential)

Phlebotomy certification
Healthcare qualification (level 2 or 3) or working towards gaining equivalent level

Experience

Experience of working in a primary care environment(Desirable)

Experience of working with the general public(Essential)

Experience of working in a healthcare setting(Essential)

Clinical Knowledge & Skills

Wound Care / Removal of sutures & staples(Desirable)

ECG’s (Desirable)

Venepuncture(Essential)

New patient medicals inc. Height, weight, BP, Pulse(Desirable)

Chaperone procedure(Desirable)

Ability to record accurate clinical notes(Desirable)

Skills

Excellent communication skills (written and oral) (Essential)

Strong IT skills(Essential)

Clear, polite telephone manner(Essential)

Competent in the use of Office and Outlook(Desirable)

EMIS / Systmone / Vision user skills(Desirable)

Hours : 29 Hours per week

Monday – 0800-1300
Tuesday- 08.00-18.00
Wednesday-Non-Working Day
Thursday – 08.00-18.00
Friday– 08.00-1300

Pay depending on experience (£13.01-£13.43 per hour)
