The employer

The Barn Café is located at the heart of their lifestyle store and is open all day every day for delicious home-cooked food, great barista coffee and drinks. Serving 200 covers per day and maintaining a standard of food much higher than expected of a typical café.

Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and professional Waiter/Waitress to join our dynamic hospitality team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest service, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all patrons. This role offers an opportunity to work in a lively environment where attention to detail, efficiency, and excellent communication skills are essential. Previous experience in a restaurant setting is preferred. The position is fully paid and suitable for individuals passionate about the hospitality industry and dedicated to providing outstanding guest care.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide menus promptly
Take accurate food and beverage orders, ensuring special dietary requirements are noted
Serve food and drinks efficiently while maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness
Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while respecting guest preferences
Ensure guest satisfaction by checking in during their meal and addressing any concerns promptly
Handle payments accurately using the point-of-sale system and provide correct change or receipts
Maintain cleanliness of tables, service stations, and dining areas throughout the shift
Follow food safety protocols and hygiene standards at all times
Assist with basic food preparation or setup when required, adhering to health regulations
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and smooth service flow
Manage multiple tables efficiently through effective time management skills

Experience

Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant service is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
Knowledge of food safety standards and basic food preparation techniques is desirable
Familiarity with serving procedures, upselling techniques, and guest services enhances performance in this role
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanour to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests
