Full job description

Purpose of the role:

Stones & Ceramic Limited seeks a Financial Accounts Manager to lead end-to-end financial control, reporting and cash management, and to strengthen systems, processes and governance to support profitable growth in a project-led manufacturing, supply and installation environment. The role combines hands-on ownership of the monthly close and statutory compliance with forward-looking budgeting, working capital optimisation and ERP-enabled process improvements tailored to an order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and inventory-centric operation.

Reporting to: Company Owner

Key responsibilities & duties

· Own the month-end and year-end close, including journals, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting, WIP valuation and project/job-costing accuracy, delivering timely management accounts with commentary and variance analysis.

· Prepare budgets, rolling forecasts and cash flow projections; track performance against targets and drive corrective actions with operational leads.

· Manage working capital, including debtor performance, credit control strategy, supplier terms, payment scheduling and treasury/cash management, ensuring liquidity for operational delivery.

· Oversee AP, AR and Payroll processing accuracy and cut-offs; refine procure-to-pay and order-to-cash controls, authorisations and segregation of duties.

· Lead statutory and tax compliance, coordinating with external accountants/auditors, and ensure timely filings, including VAT, corporation tax and payroll-related submissions.

· Implement and enhance ERP/accounting systems, reporting and dashboards; map processes, standardise master data, and drive continuous improvement and user adoption across finance and operations.

· Engage and coordinate with the external auditors.

· Audit accounts to ensure they comply with the laws.

· Establish and monitor internal controls, policies and accounting manuals; conduct periodic reviews on revenue recognition, inventory, project costs, and capex governance.

· Partner with commercial, projects and operations teams on pricing, margin analysis, cost-to-serve, supplier negotiations, stock planning and installation scheduling impacts on cash and profit.

· Produce board-ready reporting packs, KPIs and insights; support strategic initiatives, scenario modelling and investment appraisals.

· Manage and develop a small finance team; set objectives, coach on best practice and ensure high-quality, compliant outputs.

· Oversee systems integrations with banking, POS/ecommerce or project tools as relevant; steward data accuracy and reconciliation processes.

· Report to and keep the director updated.

· Analyse client-specific and operational needs and work towards meeting those needs.

· Deal with queries from suppliers and subcontractors.

· Develop and maintain good relations with company’s clients. Communicate client needs and demands to the company.

· Manage projects within client relationships, working to carry out clients’ goals while meeting the company’s goals.

· Keep records of client transactions.

Academic or trade qualifications

· Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).

Demonstrable experience owning the financial close, management reporting, budgeting/forecasting, cash flow management and statutory compliance in a product and project delivery context.
Strong grasp of project/job costing, WIP, margin analysis, inventory and fixed asset accounting in a manufacturing/supply-and-install setting.
Proven experience designing or improving finance processes and internal controls, including authorisations and audit readiness.
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets and familiarity with BI/reporting tools.

Desirable skills & knowledge:

Familiarity with tendering/pricing frameworks, framework agreements and subcontractor management from a finance controls perspective.
Exposure to inventory management, batch/lot tracking, and integration of sales, procurement, stock, projects and finance modules.
Ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and provide C‑suite ready insights in a fast-paced, growth environment.

Pay: £45,000.00-£45,250.00 per year
