Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production, kitchen management, and culinary arts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop leadership skills within a professional hospitality environment, supporting the Head Chef in maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and service. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with prior restaurant experience or a solid background in food preparation and cooking.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations
Supervise junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
Prepare ingredients and cook dishes according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality
Manage food production processes, including portion control, plating, and presentation of dishes
Monitor stock levels, assist with inventory management, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
Enforce food safety protocols throughout all stages of food handling and preparation
Support the training of new team members in culinary techniques and safety procedures
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery

Qualifications

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
Demonstrable supervising experience or team management skills
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation standards
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Good communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and management
Passion for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences
