Job Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Cargo Agent and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of freight operations. As a key player in our logistics network, you will be responsible for managing cargo movement, verifying shipments, and maintaining accurate records to support timely deliveries. This energetic role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your organizational skills and attention to detail will make a significant impact on our operational success.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and process cargo documentation for inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring strict accuracy and compliance with regulations.
Booking & Movement: Coordinate cargo bookings, deliveries, and collections accurately and efficiently while facilitating smooth cargo movement with warehouse staff, carriers, and customs officials.
Verification & Inspection: Verify shipment contents against manifests and packing lists to maintain inventory integrity, conducting thorough inspections for damage or discrepancies and reporting issues promptly.
Freight Handling: Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment, adhering to safety protocols at all times, and providing practical, hands-on support to the wider operation when required.
Communication & Service: Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers via email, telephone, and face-to-face, delivering a consistently professional and friendly standard of customer service.
Deadline & Task Management: Manage allocated tasks, prioritize workloads, and ensure operational deadlines and tight schedules are met while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety—even during busy periods.
Records & Systems: Maintain detailed records of all cargo transactions (including tracking updates and shipment statuses) using Outlook, Excel, Google Calendar, and other standard software.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, work across departments, and provide regular operational updates to ensure seamless cargo flow.

Candidate Requirements

Experience: A minimum of six months’ proven experience in import and export procedures. Previous experience in logistics, freight handling, or warehouse operations is highly preferred.
Systems Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of ABS (Automated Border System). Previous experience using iCargo is beneficial.
Software Proficiency: Comfort with standard tools including Outlook, Excel, Google Calendar, and job-specific tracking software.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical ability to identify discrepancies, assess damage, or resolve shipment issues quickly.
Schedule & Flexibility: Ability to work a rotating shift pattern with a flexible, reliable, and professional approach.
Core Competencies: Strong communication, organizational, time management, and customer-service skills, along with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
