Job Title: Kitchen Porter

About La Bakerie:

La Bakerie is a well-established and popular bakery and cafe renowned for its high-quality products and vibrant atmosphere. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Porter that can start at 6am to ensure the efficient and hygienic operation of our busy kitchen. This role is crucial in supporting our culinary team and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.

Position Summary:

The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment. This role involves comprehensive cleaning duties, efficient management of kitchenware, and providing essential support to the culinary team through basic food preparation and other assigned tasks. The successful candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain the cleanliness and order of the kitchen area before, during, and after service, adhering to established hygiene protocols.
Collect, wash, dry, and promptly return all kitchenware, including pots, pans, plates, and cutlery, ensuring availability for service.
Clean and disinfect kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors, and walls according to specified procedures and schedules.
Ensure the correct and safe storage of all kitchen equipment.
Manage the removal and disposal of kitchen waste in a hygienic and efficient manner.
Assist with the unloading and appropriate handling of deliveries.
Organise and maintain the tidiness of the storeroom and refrigeration units as directed by senior kitchen staff.
Support the Chef and other kitchen personnel with basic food preparation tasks as required.
Provide assistance to other kitchen team members in the execution of their duties to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively within a demanding kitchen environment.
Physical capacity to perform washing duties and safely lift and carry heavy items.
Comfortable with prolonged periods of standing.
Proven ability to work efficiently, possess effective communication skills, follow instructions accurately, and maintain composure under pressure.
Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant/Porter or in a commercial kitchen setting is a mandatory requirement.
