Finance & Accounts Assistant

We are a growing family-run textile recycling and export business based in Widnes, working with charities, retailers, schools and export customers around the world.

As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable, organised and ambitious Finance & Accounts Assistant to join our team and work closely alongside our existing finance department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop within a successful and expanding business, gaining hands-on experience across finance, exports, operations and business management.

The Role

You will work directly with our finance team supporting the day-to-day running of company accounts and administration, while gradually taking on more responsibility as you develop within the role.

This position would suit someone who:

Has some finance/accounts experience

Is comfortable with technology and modern systems

Wants to grow within a business long-term

Is proactive, trustworthy and eager to learn

Enjoys working in a friendly family-business environment

Responsibilities

Duties may include:

Processing purchase and sales invoices

Assisting with customer payments and credit control

Bank reconciliations

Supporting payroll and supplier payments

Maintaining accurate financial records using Xero

Assisting with export paperwork and documentation

Supporting reporting and departmental cost tracking

General finance and office administration

Helping improve digital systems and processes

Liaising with operations and warehouse teams where required

As confidence grows, the role may expand into:

Management reporting

Cost analysis

Cashflow forecasting

Export compliance support

Supplier/customer account management

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

Organised and detail-oriented

Good with numbers and problem-solving

Comfortable using Excel and digital systems

Friendly and personable

Willing to learn and develop

Able to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred (but not essential):

Experience using Xero or similar accounting software

AAT qualification or accountancy/business-related education

Previous office or finance experience

Experience in logistics, exports or operations
