Job Description Paint Mixing and Warehouse Operative

Reporting to, Managing Director

For over 40 years, Holman Specialist Paints have been providing Specialist Coatings and Passive Fire Protection products with a high level of technical service. We have built a strong reputation for high-quality products, service, and honesty.

Clients range from product manufacturing organisations, Architects, Local Authorities, construction and decorating contractors and knowledgeable DIY users.

Role

We are seeking an experienced Paint Mixing, Colour Matching and Warehouse Operative to join our team.

This is a key position within the business and consequently, operates autonomously and with a high degree of trust.

Role Overview

Paint mixing (using computerised mixing equipment) and Warehouse operations including stock management, production planning and shipping activities to meet customer service levels, whilst managing the timely and cost-effective procurement of stock and the control of general operating costs.

Main Duties

To conduct stock picking, paint mixing and packing activities in order to ensure accurate, timely and efficient dispatch of customer orders.

To use the Sage business system for stock ordering.

Manage the goods-in process, including maintaining efficient stock storage and picking systems.

To undertake stocktaking as required, and to identify slow moving and redundant stock for action by the sales department.

Ensure timely ordering of stock, liaising closely with other departments to assess and maintain

appropriate stock levels and alerting the company to potential stock shortfalls.

Ensure all related documentation and administrative tasks are completed in accordance with company procedures.

Maintain a safe and tidy working environment, ensuring all activities and equipment use comply with company health and safety procedures, reporting issues or concerns directly to the Managing Director.

Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to maximise the benefits and value for money to the company.

To have direct responsibility for negotiating prices and terms for Warehouse and production consumables such as packaging materials and paint cans.

Follow up and progress outstanding stock orders, part orders and delays, liaising with suppliers and keeping relevant individuals or departments informed of the situation and implications.

To ensure the mixing system hardware is maintained to the highest level and the software is kept up to date, conducting weekly software/database backups.

To assist the sales team when required to provide advice and guidance to customers.

Personal Attributes and Experience

· Previous experience and knowledge of paint mixing machines and paint colour matching.

· Meticulous record keeping and reporting.

· Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Good numeracy skills.

· Highly organised and self-motivated.

· Accurate with a high attention to detail.

· Confidence to assist with stock control and warehouse management activities.

Work location: Old Town Swindon, Wiltshire

Pay: £29,000.00 per year
