Full job description

Salary: £40,000 to £55,000. Progression within this scale will be linked to the ongoing growth and expansion of the service, which currently supports two young people.

About Us

SAILS is part of Care Afloat Ltd, a long‑established provider of care and support for children and young people. Our supported accommodation service provides a stable, nurturing environment for young people aged 16+ who are leaving care and preparing for independent adulthood. We offer two self‑contained flats, enabling young people to learn independence while still receiving 24‑hour onsite support.

We work alongside local authorities, professionals, therapeutic partners and families to help young people develop independence skills in a safe, supportive setting. The service promotes stability, life skills, emotional resilience, community engagement and successful transition into adult living.

We are looking for an experienced, confident and dedicated Registered Service Manager to oversee our supported accommodation service and ensure excellence in care, compliance and outcomes.

The Role:

As the Registered Service Manager of Supported Accommodation, you will be responsible for the operational leadership of the service, ensuring it meets regulatory requirements and delivers safe, high‑quality support that promotes independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strong, effective leadership to staff teams within supported accommodation
Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards specific to supported accommodation frameworks
Oversee service delivery, safeguarding, and quality assurance processes
Promote independence-focused support for young people aged 16+
Lead on staff development, training, supervision and performance
Manage rota planning, service budgets, and resource allocation
Maintain positive relationships with external partners, local authorities and families
Monitor service performance, outcomes, audits and continuous improvement
Participate in on‑call duties as required

What We’re Looking For:

Proven experience managing supported accommodation or similar semi‑independent services or Children’s Home
Strong understanding of regulatory and safeguarding requirements for services supporting young people
Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
Experience supporting vulnerable young people with varying needs
Ability to manage crises, problem‑solve and maintain high service standards
A proactive, professional and confidential approach
Full UK driving licence
Relevant qualifications (evidence must be provided)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £40,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
