We are seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Glenbervie House and Country Estate, an exclusive wedding and events venue offering something increasingly rare in hospitality, an exceptional work-life balance alongside genuine variety and creativity in the kitchen.

As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef , delivering exceptional food experiences for weddings, private events, and banqueting functions at one of Scotland’s most respected exclusive-use venues. This role is focused entirely on banqueting and event catering , no restaurant service , giving you the opportunity to work on exciting and varied events rather than repetitive day-to-day restaurant operations.

With a maximum 40-hour working week, this role offers the kind of balance and flexibility that very few chef positions can genuinely provide.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Chef in supervising kitchen staff and ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.
Lead food preparation and banqueting service while maintaining exceptional quality and presentation standards.
Deliver high-quality food experiences for weddings, private functions, and exclusive events.
Support the delivery of varied and creative event menus, ensuring consistency across all dishes.
Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organisation standards.
Help create a positive, supportive, and enjoyable kitchen culture.
Train and mentor junior team members, encouraging growth and teamwork.
Assist with menu development, ordering, stock control, and kitchen planning.
Work collaboratively with front-of-house and events teams to deliver outstanding guest experiences.

Experience

Previous experience in a Sous Chef or senior kitchen supervisory role.
Strong background in food preparation, banqueting, and kitchen operations.
Confident leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
Excellent understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
Experience working in busy hospitality environments while maintaining calmness, consistency, and quality.
Passion for hospitality, teamwork, and delivering memorable guest experiences.
