Full job description

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, working on a rota covering the practice opening hours of 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, with participation in an extended hours rota as required.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience.

Garston Medical Centre is a busy, patient-focused GP practice providing high-quality primary care to our local community. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and compassionate Receptionist to join our dedicated administrative team.

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in delivering an excellent patient experience while supporting our clinicians and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

*Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.

*Answer telephone calls promptly and deal with enquiries efficiently.

*Book, amend and cancel appointments using the clinical system.

*Register new patients and maintain accurate patient records.

*Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures.

*Signpost patients to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional.

*Manage incoming correspondence and electronic requests.

*Handle confidential patient information in accordance with GDPR and NHS guidelines.

*Support the wider practice team with general administrative duties.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:-

*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

*Outstanding customer service skills with a caring and empathetic approach.

*The ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment.

*Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

*Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.

*The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

*A flexible approach to working hours to support the practice rota.

Desirable

*Previous experience working in a GP surgery, NHS or healthcare setting.

*Experience using EMIS Web or another NHS clinical system.

*Knowledge of NHS appointment systems and patient pathways.
