About the Role

ICON Product Quality and Consumer Services is looking for an organised, accurate and quality-focused Quality Control Assistant to support day-to-day product inspection, documentation and quality-assurance activities within our Leeds operation.

The successful candidate will work closely with quality, warehouse, purchasing, production and operations teams to inspect incoming and finished products, maintain accurate quality records, identify non-conforming items and support consistent product standards across operational processes.

This role is suitable for someone with experience in quality control, manufacturing, warehousing, product inspection, laboratory support or a related operational environment who is comfortable following structured procedures, maintaining detailed records and working with product specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Support: Assist with routine quality-control activities across products and operational processes.

Product Inspection: Inspect incoming, stored and finished products against approved specifications.

Incoming Goods Checks: Verify delivered products or materials meet required quality standards.

Visual Inspection: Check products for damage, defects, contamination or packaging issues.

Specification Checks: Compare products against approved specifications and quality requirements.

Sampling: Collect product samples according to established procedures.

Sample Records: Maintain accurate records of samples taken for inspection or testing.

Batch Checks: Support routine inspection of individual product batches where applicable.

Batch Documentation: Maintain complete quality information relating to inspected batches.

Packaging Inspection: Check packaging condition, presentation and product protection.

Label Verification: Confirm product labels contain correct approved information.

Barcode Checks: Verify barcodes and product identifiers where required.

Quantity Checks: Confirm quantities against relevant production or delivery documentation.

Product Coding: Check batch, lot or product-reference information for accuracy.

Expiry Information: Verify date-related product information where applicable.

Quality Records: Maintain complete and accurate inspection documentation.

Inspection Reports: Prepare routine reports showing quality-control findings.

Data Entry: Enter inspection results accurately into relevant systems.

Quality Systems: Maintain current information within quality or operational databases.

Non-Conformance Recording: Record products that do not meet required standards.

Defect Reporting: Document identified defects clearly and accurately.

Quarantine Support: Assist with segregation of products awaiting quality review.

Rejected Goods: Maintain records relating to rejected materials or products.

Corrective Actions: Support tracking of agreed corrective actions.

Reinspection: Conduct follow-up inspections after approved corrective work.

Supplier Quality: Maintain information relating to recurring supplier-quality issues.

Supplier Deliveries: Assist with reviewing the quality of incoming supplier goods.

Warehouse Coordination: Work with warehouse colleagues regarding inspected and quarantined stock.

Inventory Status: Ensure product quality status is reflected accurately in relevant systems.

Returns Inspection: Support inspection of returned products where required.

Customer Returns: Record quality information relating to returned goods.

Complaint Support: Assist with investigation of product-quality complaints.

Evidence Collection: Gather photographs, documents and product information for quality investigations.

Root Cause Support: Help collect information relating to recurring quality problems.

Trend Monitoring: Identify recurring defects or quality concerns.

Quality Data: Maintain information used to monitor product-quality performance.

KPI Support: Assist with tracking rejection rates, defects and inspection activity.

Quality Reporting: Prepare routine quality-control summaries for operational teams.

Process Checks: Support routine checks of operational processes affecting product quality.

Procedure Compliance: Follow established inspection and quality-control procedures.

Document Control: Maintain current versions of quality procedures and inspection records.

Record Retention: Ensure quality documentation is stored appropriately.

Audit Preparation: Help organise documentation required for quality audits.

Audit Support: Provide requested inspection and quality records during reviews.

Corrective Action Records: Maintain evidence showing completion of agreed actions.

Equipment Checks: Ensure basic inspection equipment is available and maintained appropriately.

Work Area Standards: Support clean and organised inspection areas.

Health and Safety: Follow relevant workplace health and safety procedures.

Cross-Team Communication: Communicate quality concerns clearly to warehouse, procurement and operational colleagues.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas that improve product quality, inspection accuracy and operational consistency.

What We Are Looking For

Experience: Previous experience in quality control, product inspection, manufacturing, warehousing, laboratory support or a comparable operational environment.

Quality Awareness: Good understanding of the importance of consistent product standards.

Inspection Skills: Ability to follow structured inspection procedures accurately.

Attention to Detail: Strong ability to identify small product or documentation discrepancies.

Documentation: Ability to maintain complete and accurate quality records.
