Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for residents in a caring environment. This role offers an opportunity to utilise culinary skills within a supportive setting, ensuring the wellbeing and satisfaction of our residents through high-quality food service. The position is paid and requires a commitment to food safety standards and excellent meal preparation.

Duties

Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
Plan menus that cater to residents’ specific health needs and preferences
Ensure all food is prepared hygienically, adhering to food safety regulations
Manage stock levels, order supplies, and maintain organisation within the kitchen
Serve meals in a timely manner, ensuring presentation is appealing
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces
Monitor food storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination
Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special dietary requests or restrictions
Assist with cleaning duties related to the kitchen area and dining spaces

Experience

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a care home, or similar setting
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
Experience with meal planning and nutritional considerations for diverse dietary needs
Familiarity with kitchen equipment and culinary techniques
Previous experience in serving meals in a professional environment is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of hygiene and presentation
