We are seeking an experienced HSE and Training Manager to join our well‑established electrical services company based in Bristol. This role will be primarily London‑based, with an expectation of two to three days per week on site across London and other UK project locations, as well as working one day per week at our Bristol office.
Due to the nature of our work, night shifts are frequently required, and applicants should be comfortable working outside standard daytime hours.

Job Summary:
The Push the Button (PTB) HSE and Training Manager will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of Health and Safety. This role is responsible for providing competent HSE advice, and for developing, implementing and maintaining effective Health and Safety policies, procedures and systems that support safe, compliant and efficient operations.
The postholder will lead the ongoing development of PTB’s safety culture, raising standards by driving ownership, accountability and positive behaviours throughout the workforce. A core focus of the role is to strengthen and enhance training provision, ensuring that all employees receive consistent, high-quality instruction that supports safe working practices.
This position will also play a strategic role in preparing PTB for the future, identifying emerging risks, implementing proactive controls, and leveraging new technologies to improve safety performance and operational resilience.
The role requires a visible, hands-on presence, working onsite at UK entertainment venues for a minimum of two days per week, with one day per week spent in our Portbury office to support planning, policy development and cross-team collaboration and the remainder of the time based at home or in our London office.
Main Duties:
- Provide competent advice to ensure that that PTB can make informed decisions about Safety priorities as part of it’s day to day activities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain Health and Safety policies and procedures to comply with UK legislation.
- Provide safety leadership and support to Site Supervisors, Project Managers, and other team members.
- Champion a positive safety culture throughout PTB, encouraging proactive reporting and engagement with Health and Safety initiatives.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to ensure comprehensive RAMS are provided for all projects.
- Ensure that PTB fulfils its legal duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015 as Contractor, Principal Contractor or Principal Designer.
- Build trusted relationships with clients to ensure all projects are undertaken with collaborative safety as a priority.
- Conduct regular safety walks & audits to ensure safe working conditions and identify potential hazards. Lead incident investigations, report findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Report all Statutory Notifiable Incidents or Injuries to the relevant authority (HSE, EA etc.).
- Oversee and Manage PTB’s accreditations and memberships of safety related associations.
- Design and deliver a comprehensive training programme for all staff, including keeping records of training and managing refresher periods and requalification.
- Identify opportunities for staff to enhance their knowledge and personal development, creating a pipeline of individuals ready for additional responsibilities within PTB.
- Ensure all new employees undergo a structured safety induction.
- Coordinate the delivery of industry-standard vocational qualifications for craft occupations.
- Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and knowledge-sharing sessions to promote awareness and understanding of health and safety issues within electrical installations.
- Support the development and implementation of ISO-aligned management systems across PTB, ensuring the organisation is fully prepared for future certification.
- Oversee the implementation of environmental management practices and sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting best practices across the organisation.
- Manage and maintain PTB’s digital training platform, including assigning courses, monitoring completion rates and analysing training data to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Oversee the use of digital platforms for digital safety management, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of incidents, near misses, audits, inspections and permit‑to‑work activities.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- NEBOSH Certificate or, IOSH Level 3 or equivalent qualification
- CDM qualifications or project experience
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation, including HASAWA, RIDDOR, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, and CDM
- 3-5 years proven Health & Safety management experience
- Demonstrate the ability to improve safety culture
- Ability to use digital tools, safety software, or emerging technology to enhance safety performance
- Proof of right to work in the UK
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ level 6 in Occupation Health & Safety or working towards it
- Environmental awareness or qualifications
- First aid certification
- Experience in events, live entertainment, staging, or technical production environments
