The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join our Design and Supportability team within Through Life Equipment Support, contributing to the engineering excellence behind critical land defence platforms. You will play a key role in developing design solutions, resolving in-service issues, and ensuring equipment performs reliably throughout its lifecycle.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

Conduct defect investigations and perform root cause analysis on in-service equipment issues
Produce engineering change requests and assess design impacts across platforms
Deliver re-engineering activities including CAD modelling, material analysis and feature evaluation
Maintain bills of materials and ensure configuration control is upheld
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to produce design reports and support engineering processes

Please note that this position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel across a range of Defence Support Group sites on a weekly basis such as; Andover, Warminster, Donnington and Bovington alongside home working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer:

Demonstrate a strong understanding of engineering standards, materials and manufacturing processes
Apply engineering practices and techniques in a practical environment
Solve problems creatively with excellent attention to detail
Use CAD tools to support design and engineering activities
Bring experience from defence or a similar regulated environment, desirable but not essential.

Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent workplace experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
