Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food preparation, cooking, and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills within a professional kitchen environment, contributing to the creation of high-quality dishes and supporting the overall operation of our restaurant. Previous kitchen experience and a strong understanding of food safety standards are essential for success in this position.

Duties

Assist with food preparation and cooking while ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to recipes and standards.
Support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety and food safety regulations.
Contribute to food production processes, including portioning, plating, and presentation of dishes to maintain high culinary standards.
Ensure all food products are stored, handled, and prepared correctly in line with food safety and hygiene standards.
Monitor stock levels, check ingredient freshness, and assist with inventory management to minimise waste and maintain efficient kitchen operations.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service, particularly during busy periods.
Report any maintenance, hygiene, or safety hazards to the appropriate department promptly.
Comply with all hotel policies and procedures, including security, fire safety, health and safety, and food safety legislation.
Demonstrate environmental awareness and contribute to sustainable and responsible kitchen practices.
Participate in training and development activities to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of kitchen operations.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment or hospitality setting is preferred.
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
Demonstrable skills in food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork.
A genuine passion for culinary arts and hospitality service.
