Sales & Warehouse Assistant

About Us

A Shufflebotham and Son is a fifth-generation family business specialising in textile sales and bespoke soft furnishing products, proudly trading for over 50 years.

Often described as an Aladdin’s cave of designer furnishing and dressmaking fabrics, our site spans six warehouses, all packed full of stock and inspiration.

Alongside our retail store, we also run our growing wholesale and online brand, Simon Philip Interiors, supplying fabrics to interior designers and trade customers across the UK.

About the Role

We are looking for a Sales & Warehouse Assistant to join our team — a varied, hands-on role combining sales responsibilities with the day-to-day running of our warehouses.

This is a key position within the business, supporting both our customers and our internal operations. You’ll be involved in everything from advising customers and processing orders, through to handling stock, maintaining our warehouses, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

This role would suit someone who enjoys a hands-on working environment and being active throughout the day, taking pride in keeping things organised and running smoothly behind the scenes, as well as supporting customers on the shop floor.

Please note, this is a physically active role. You will be on your feet for most of the day, regularly moving stock, lifting heavier items when required, and using ladders.

Key Responsibilities

Providing excellent customer service in-store, over the phone and via email
Assisting customers with product advice, quantities and general enquiries
Creating accurate quotes and processing customer orders
Supporting customers on the shop floor and ensuring a smooth sales experience
Retrieving and returning stock for customers and the sales team
Packing, unpacking and moving stock across the site
Maintaining accurate stock data within our systems
Supporting the implementation and upkeep of our stock management processes
Keeping the warehouse and showroom clean, organised and well presented
Supporting the overall day-to-day running of the business

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

Confident and capable in a customer-facing sales role
Practical, hands-on and comfortable working in a physical environment
Organised with strong attention to detail
Confident with numbers and calculations
A strong communicator, both written and verbal
Able to work well independently and as part of a team
Comfortable using computers and willing to learn new systems

Experience in fabrics, interiors, curtains or blinds is a bonus, but not essential — full training will be provided.

An interest in interiors, colour and design would be a real advantage.

Working Hours

38 hours per week:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:30am – 5:30pm
Saturday: 10:00am – 4:00pm
(Hours may be subject to change)

Salary

£13.00 per hour (depending on experience), increasing to £13.40 after probation (+ up to £800 annual performance bonus)
