Hours: 37.5 hrs per week. Full time, permanent
Reach Learning Disability is a Nottinghamshire-based charity providing high-quality, person-centred day services to people with learning disabilities.
We are seeking a hardworking, dynamic and enthusiastic Deputy Centre Manager to help develop and enhance our exciting provision for people with learning disabilities at Reach Mansfield. Supported by a dedicated staff team, you will have significant scope to make a positive difference to the lives of local people.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong person-centred approach to supporting individuals with learning disabilities. You will be responsible for planning and delivering classes, as well as supporting the Centre Manager in maintaining and advancing the development of the Reach Centre and its programmes. This will involve working collaboratively with individuals, their families, care providers, external agencies and the local authority to ensure services meet the needs of adults with learning disabilities. Good leadership, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a positive and enthusiastic outlook.
Experience of tutoring, team leadership and management is required, as well as a background in Adult Social Care. We are looking for a team player who is keen to contribute to all aspects of Reach’s work, including a willingness to support fundraising activities. Deputy Centre Manager
Job Purpose:
In this key role, you will have a broad range of responsibilities, including supporting the Centre Manager to ensure the service is delivered safely and effectively. You will play an important part in ensuring that Reach’s strategic plan and ethos guide all aspects of service delivery and management. This role is combined with Tutor responsibilities.
The role is not suitable for home or hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities:
General
Support the day-to-day running of the Reach Centre, including planning, delivering and supporting in sessions.
Support the Centre Manager to promote the profile of the Reach Centre effectively and raise awareness of the charity and its aims more widely within the community.
Ensure client/project assessment, monitoring and evaluation information is passed onto the Centre Manager.
Support the development of individuals registration profiles.
Administrative
Comply with and help to enforce Reach’s policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Support the Centre Manager with the health and safety at the centre; compiling risk assessments and keeping health and safety records accurate and up to date.
Financial
Support the Centre Manager to ensure the use of resources are effectively managed within the permitted budget.
Support reasonable local fundraising opportunities approved by the Fundraising Director.
Team and Clients
Support the Centre Manager to maintain and develop a varied and extensive range of activities and learning opportunities for clients.
Support the day-to-day client interaction within the Reach Centre.
Identify staff training needs and develop and manage training opportunities.
Take part, and on occasion, facilitate and lead regular team meetings effectively.
Support the Centre Manager to manage staff issues and support Reach Centre’s team (staff and volunteers) effectively. Including mentoring and development of staff.
Encourage and promote ideas and suggestions for improvement by team members.
Ensure the Centre Manager is made aware of any performance that requires recognising and rewarding.
Identify and manage conflict within the team or client group, escalating issues, if necessary, to resolve disputes efficiently.
To be responsible for the safeguarding of individuals including undertaking the role of Referrer, as necessary.
Other Duties:
Positively represent Reach at voluntary sector and learning disability meetings as required.
Report to Centre Manager, planning or project meetings as required.
Work with external agencies such as Inspire Adult and Community Learning.
Communicate effectively with all team members across the organisation.
Reach retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position to meet the needs of the Charity..
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Can work well and efficiently in a team and independently.

- Can work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria
- Has experience working with adults with learning disabilities.
- Has experience in using IT.
- Has good knowledge and experience of safeguarding.
- Can drive and is willing to travel for work purposes.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Planning – for client sessions, staff and programme management.
- Experience in tutoring and facilitating client sessions. An AET (Award in Education and Training) qualification is desirable.
- Leadership, Management and Team Building experience.
- A background in Adult Social Care.
- Health & Safety – for risk and hazard management.
- English – for written and spoken communication.
- Numeracy – for budget management.
- IT – for use of internet, email, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel.
