Millie's House Nursery & Pre-School, Woodlands Avenue, New Malden (KT3 3UL)

Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum

Hours: Full time, [40] hours per week, Monday to Friday (nursery open 8:00am to 6:00pm)

About us

Millie's House Nursery & Pre-School at Woodlands Avenue is a warm and welcoming 84-place day nursery caring for children from 3 months to 5 years. Set across three spacious floors with four bright, age-appropriate rooms and a dedicated pre-school classroom within our secure walled garden, we are right in the heart of the New Malden community with excellent transport links and parking nearby.

We pride ourselves on creating a nurturing environment where every experience is a learning opportunity and a 'can do' attitude runs through everything we do. We are now looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Room Leader to join our team and help lead the way in delivering outstanding early years care.

About the role

As Room Leader you will take day to day responsibility for the smooth running of your room, leading a team of practitioners to deliver high quality care and education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will be a positive role model, mentoring your team while building strong, trusting relationships with children and their families.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading and supporting your room team to deliver an engaging, child-led curriculum that meets the needs of every child
Acting as a key person for a group of children, planning for their individual learning and development and maintaining accurate observations and records
Overseeing the planning and provision of a stimulating, safe and welcoming learning environment, indoors and outdoors
Building positive partnerships with parents and carers, keeping them informed and involved in their child's progress
Ensuring all safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are met at all times, in line with EYFS and our policies
Supporting the induction, mentoring and development of team members, including apprentices and students
Working closely with the Nursery Manager and Deputy to maintain the highest standards of care and continuous improvement

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about early years and ready to lead by example. You will have:

A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above) as recognised by the Department for Education (essential)
Previous experience working in an early years setting, with some experience of leading or supervising others
A secure, up to date knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development
Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team
A warm, caring and professional approach, and a genuine commitment to giving children the best possible start
A paediatric first aid certificate is desirable, though we can support you to gain this
