Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Cook/Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, excellent kitchen experience, and strong leadership skills. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise in a nursing home environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and customer satisfaction. Previous nursing home experience and supervising skills are highly desirable but not essential.

Duties

Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and timely service
Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to maintain high-quality food production
Manage food safety protocols, including hygiene standards and proper storage of ingredients
Assist in menu planning and development to enhance client offerings
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper stock rotation
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area at all times
Serve food efficiently to clients, ensuring a positive dining experience
Train new team members in food preparation techniques and safety procedures

Skills

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen or nursing home setting
Strong leadership and team management abilities, including supervising experience
Excellent knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and quality control
Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members
Knowledge of nursing home environment, including serving procedures and customer service excellence
Creative flair for menu development and culinary innovation
