Job Summary

44.5 hours per week Monday - Saturday inline with shop opening hours
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Butcher Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting daily operations in a busy butcher shop, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in food handling, preparation, and meat cutting, with a passion for delivering exceptional service in a food industry setting. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and packaging of meat products according to shop standards
Operate knives and meat-cutting equipment safely and efficiently for slicing, trimming, and portioning meats
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, tools, and equipment in compliance with food safety regulations
Support the inventory management by stocking shelves and organizing products for easy access
Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, offering product recommendations, and ensuring customer satisfaction
Follow all food safety protocols during handling, storage, and preparation of meat products
Assist with other kitchen or shop duties as needed to ensure smooth daily operations

Skills

Proven experience in food production, preparation, or related roles within the food industry or restaurant environment
Strong knife skills and proficiency in meat cutting techniques
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Experience with packaging and labelling food products is preferred
Culinary experience or kitchen background is a plus but not required
Familiarity with food industry regulations and sanitation practices
