Overview

The Front of House Manager is responsible for leading the daily guest experience at The Taybank, ensuring every visit reflects the warmth, generosity and relaxed professionalism that defines our hospitality.

Working closely with the General Manager, Head Chef and kitchen team, they oversee the smooth running of the restaurant, bar, rooms and events, creating a culture where guests feel genuinely welcomed and the team feels supported to deliver exceptional service.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on the floor. Whether hosting a busy restaurant service, welcoming overnight guests, coordinating a long table dinner or helping a new team member grow in confidence, the Front of House Manager leads by example and takes pride in creating memorable experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience

Lead front of house service across the restaurant, bar, gardens, rooms and events.
Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where every guest feels looked after.
Ensure consistently high standards of hospitality, presentation and attention to detail.
Resolve guest feedback and issues confidently, always seeking positive outcomes.

Team Leadership

Lead, motivate and develop the front of house team through visible, hands-on leadership.
Recruit, train and onboard new team members.
Foster a positive culture built on teamwork, kindness and accountability.
Support ongoing training in food, drinks and service knowledge.

Operations

Oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of front of house.
Produce rotas that balance excellent service with efficient labour management.
Coordinate closely with the kitchen to ensure seamless communication during service.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation throughout guest-facing areas.
Ensure licensing, health and safety, and food hygiene procedures are consistently followed.

Food, Drink & Events

Support the delivery of seasonal events including long table dinners, live music, garden events and private functions.
Ensure food and drinks are served with knowledge, confidence and genuine enthusiasm.
Help maintain an exciting and well-presented drinks offering alongside the bar team.
Work with the kitchen to communicate daily menu changes and seasonal produce.

Commercial Performance

Help deliver revenue, wage and cost targets through efficient operations.
Maximise restaurant covers, room upgrades and event opportunities while maintaining an exceptional guest experience.
Monitor stock, wastage and ordering alongside the wider management team.
Contribute ideas that improve both guest satisfaction and commercial performance.

About You

You'll be an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys leading from the floor and setting the tone through your own example. You're organised, approachable and naturally attentive, with the confidence to manage busy services while ensuring guests always feel relaxed and cared for.

Experience

Previous management or supervisory experience in a quality restaurant, hotel or hospitality venue.
Strong knowledge of restaurant and bar operations.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Experience managing rotas, labour costs and daily operations.
Personal Licence Holder (or willingness to obtain one) desirable.
A passion for seasonal food, independent hospitality and creating places people love to return to.
